On the night of May 21, 32 earthquakes occurred in Yangbi County of Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, with the maximum magnitude6.4 and focal depth of 8km. Both the houses and production facilities of the victims were damaged and the highways, communication base stations and optical cables were lost, which affected the operation of the local communication network. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has conscientiously implemented the deployment requirements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and the Information and Communications Administration has stepped up to implement the instructions and requirements of the Ministry’s leadership in earthquake relief and emergency communications support work, and spared no effort to repair communications facilities in the disaster-stricken areas. China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Tower and other communication enterprises under the unified command strived their best to repair communications facilities.
